BF2 World Tournament

Postby Spandex on Wed Jan 28, 2009 4:35 pm

Anyone remember the name of the team that absolutely demolished us in the world tourney? The one that later had a little haxident. Asked Dick but he can't remember. We both think it had a number in, Dick thinks '5'.

Yeah, it was summat 5. I wasn't on the team for that disaster, cos I was still in the midst of my 2 month anti-BF2 strike.

I believe they were called EZ5. Absolutely fucked us up. Heh, I remember jumping in the APC with you, Spandex. Our initial plan was going okay, then we ran into a whole armor group at the south flag and got pasted in quick fashion. After that we all just ran around and tried not to get killed.

Good call 25th. Those were the fuckers. I swear they had 30 men in that initial rush. Me, 25th and someone else in the APC rushed one flag only to meet their APC and armour plus infantry. We got shat on but I thought we at least we have armour at the other flag so should cap that. Except they got wasted too. Then they were in our main, launching themselves off buildings into our armour the instant it spawned.

A lesson in planning and timing!

:lulz:

Its funny now, but that match was a brutal check on our ego at the time. Up till then we were stomping everyone. Those fuckers made us look like a bunch of noobs.

Lessons we were still struggling with at the end of 18 months of Booty Squad.

Ya, we knew what they were doing...it was just a mess on execution. I remember the tank steal plan against dynamic. That went all to hell when no one could make the match. :freak:

Booty Squad was fun, but lets face it, we werent the most disiplined team in the field. I dont think I could have played on a team that was, though. We had some good times.

We were a bunch of "older" gamers with jobs and kids and responsibilities. I thought we did pretty damn well for how little we practiced. If we were all 15 year-olds with all the time in the world, we could have been dominant.

Been reminiscing a bit with Slates (he used to play in TWL in the early days) and so was watching some old vids of various play (Paradigm Shift, Warchild, 20ID, HOT etc etc).

Man some of their moves are uncanny. They must have spawn times measured exactly not to mention shit like pixel shooting (Tank kills from the full length of the map away).

Like 25th I just don't have the patience. One of the 20ID guys was saying "Thank God for the finals" cos he was sick of 5 months of solid drills, scrims and being reamed out by his commander. Like any of us lot could put up with that!

IRT Dick: Damn right. I remain convinced that if I had HALF the gametime some of those nerds had I woulda been a fuckin genius. I used to be able to top the table in BF2 and I hardly ever played it. I only logged about 80 hours in total over the whole time I was active.

So true. Dim and I would be madly trying to finish a round of golf 10 seconds before a match.

Those 20ID highlight films were sick. The things they did against teams that kicked our ass. Unreal. Knocking choppers out of the air with AT kits from the other side of the map.

Hey for a bunch of gamers who were either drunk or stoned or both for almost every match we did pretty damn good.
I will see if I can dig up that screen shot of TWL when we were top spot, fast attack I think it was.
You guys nailed it though. If we had all the time in the world like most of the teams we would have
kicked ass. I wonder how some of the ones we beat would feel if they knew the guys who beat them
smoked copious amounts of weed and drank gallons of alcohol.

Remember that one team that was suppose to be pretty good and we thumped them on Dalian. Then they tried to rule fuck us. Then25th got banned from TWL for a couple days. God Bless Dim and his screen shots.
