Same man. Before I moved the card over from the old box I tried the USB Xfi Fatality headphones. Horrid. Utter shit. Moved the card and got the non-usb and way better. They are quite comfortable. Stereo. Been meaning to get another set of 5.1...

Speedlink Medusa's seemed to be the best bet.

I've fixed mine though so there's no rush for me. I'll look for a bargain somewhere.

I'm thinking about these bad boys:

Tritton AX360

or the scaled down version:

TRITTON AX51

I'm going back to 5.1, had enough of this stereo BS.

Um. You do know that there's no such things as headphones that actually do 5.1 right? It's an approximation, but not true surround. You're paying extra for a feature you don't really get.

Unless I'm waaaaay off base and things have changed since the last time I was 'phones shopping.

I'm sure it's nothing compared to a room properly configured, but they've got 4 speakers in each ear. They've moved past just simulating it. The thing that's kinda cool is that you can control the volume of the various speakers in each headset. For example Vent, Comms, etc come through the center channel so you can turn that up or down depending. I don't know if the old Zalmans had multiple speakers (I think they did) but they were really uncomfortable.

Yeah you're waaaay off base. In other words, you're wrong. Again.

It's not as good as a speaker setup obviously but you can clearly tell when sounds are in front or behind you. Especially with the higher end phones like the Razor ones. The 5.1 is very well realised in the Medusa's apparently.

I went from Zalman 5.1s to Plantronics stereo headphones, and I can't tell the difference, really. I think it's a placebo effect. The Zalmans I had did not have discrete speakers for each channel. It's a stereo headset with good marketing, boyos.

No, it's cos I know you can't get 5.1 sound from 2 speakers.

5.1 headphones have more than 2 speakers. Not sure which bit of that you're not getting.

Well I know the Barracudas do. Almost sure the Medusa's do too. Perhaps it's just the later, more expensive ones that have multiple speakers.

Actually, no, it wasn't that good... frankly I was disappointed.
