Gun Nut Fail

Postby DickSchittlippz on Tue Aug 18, 2009 12:54 pm

Hey, there's an Obama protest down the street. Let's head down there with our M4's.

What the fucking fuck is wrong with people? I thought the Bush presidency was scary, but the Repuglican reaction to the Obama presidency is even fucking scarier. It utterly blows me away that you can walk down the street with an assault rifle strapped to your chest. New England needs out of this fucked up collection of yokels and godfags, and we need out NOW.

Nope. What he did was totally legal in the state in which he resides.

We're so fucked up, it's kind of shocking, eh?

Just realized I forgot to post the story with the pic!

I don't see the difference between that and a bunch of police goons walking around with them. And please don't tell me that the cops are more responsible, because that is utter shit.

What is to be gained by doing what this douche did? He's not protecting anybody. He's there to threaten and intimidate, just like the police. Only with cops, there is a semi-reasonable assumption that they're not gonna haul off a few rounds into a crowd for no reason. People who are in such dire need to proclaim their rights to be a crazy gun nut...who knows what the fuck they're gonna do? Not that I'm trumpeting the virtues of cops, but private citizens have utterly NO FUCKING REASON to even own an assault rifle, never mind stroll down the street with it.

On this I agree. However, this guy isn't any more likely to start popping rounds off into the crowd than one of those police officers are. I guess I take some comfort in the idea of mutually assured destruction. If one group of goons (gangsters, rioters, whatever) has bigger guns than the other group of goons (the police, private security companies, etc.), things are bound to get bad at some point. If both groups are toting the same arsenal, however, both groups will think a little more before using them. Of course, I'm not talking about the one off nut case that walks into a mall and starts blazing away. Those people will never go away no matter what they have access to in regards of weaponry.

But when you see a guy strolling down the street with a weapon like that strapped on his back, how do you know if he's just a gun activist or if he's heading to the mall to ventilate skulls? I'm sorry, but normal people don't leave the house with an assault rifle on their person. You have to be at least slightly off-kilter to do that. How much further off-kilter do you need to be before you start shooting at random? It's a very, VERY fine line IMO.

You know he's a gun activist because if he was looking to do people harm, he'd want to conceal his intentions until he carried them out in an effort to keep anyone from prematurely intervening. If a person is walking down the road with an assault rifle in plain view, they KNOW that they're going to be questioned, so their most likely intention is to make a statement, not to go Rambo on a bunch of people. Every rampage killer that I've ever heard of hid their weapons until it was time to do the deed. They didn't walk down the street with them in plain view.

Dude, if I see a man with a gun strapped on his back, walking down the street, I'm gonna assume he's an irrational individual...cos he is.

All people are irrational in their own right. It's part of the human condition. That doesn't mean that they're looking to do others harm.

So, when I was riding through the center of downtown Jacksonville one evening and saw the black dude with a revolver, it was only wrong because he was trying to hide it in a paper bag?

Uh, yeah, if it was a registered weapon and he was the legal owner. If he had a concealed carry permit, even in the paper bag, he was within his rights. You don't know what his intentions are, and if he does something wrong he should be punished for it. Besides, how do you know he was toting a revolver if it was in a paper bag?

Because he was "trying to hide it" in the bag, as I mentioned. And in his obviously inebriated state (i.e., heavy staggering) he was having some difficulty getting the gun to the bag, which was really only big enough for a soda can. Also, the state of the area being that it was after sundown and all the businesses were closed and gated led me to believe he probably wasn't the sort to bother with permits and such like.

The long and short of it is this - What kind of cunt takes an assault rifle to a protest?

Answer: A complete one.
