I'll start us off...

Over Christmas they're rearranging the office. I'm losing my plush corner desk and moving further into the middle of the room. My boss is moving in behind me. No more foruming at work. Basically that means my foruming is gonna be slashed by 75% as I don't post that much in the evenings.

Ugh. Open plan office? Some people might revile the infamous cubicle farm office, but walls increase slacktivity potential by 90%.

Your boss doesn't have his own office?

Well strictly speaking he's not my boss. We're at the same level really but he's a supervisor and I'm a stock controller. So he runs the office and other folks while I just do my stock. So while he's not directly my boss (I answer to the contract manager) he is also tasked with keeping things in the office running smoothly. That would include stopping any slackers. He probably wouldn't say owt to me but I don't want to put him in the position where he is telling off other folk for being on the internet while seeing me on it all the time.

In other news, I just came back from the dentist, having had a painless filling replacement. I will now attempt to consume hot soup with no feeling in 2/3 of my mouth.

So, anyone have any ideas on how to retrieve files from a laptop running Windows 98 FIRST EDITION that has a cd READER NOT BURNER, a non-working USB port, and missing the files needed to create a LAN so I can connect it to my computer? I agreed to attempt to upgrade some lady's Toshiba from 98FE to 98SE but she only has a full install disc and no way to save her docs.

Partition magic to create a partition were you'd store the files you want to keep?

Buy a macintosh?
