Unless you're Pure, make a backup copy of your IL-2 directory
first
**Step 1**
If you have the direct to drive download version of IL-2
download this first! Copy the files into your C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 folder (or the main folder for the game if you have installed it on a different path). If you have a CD/DVD copy of the game you do not need this.
**Step 2**
Download a sound mod/mod installer from
this page. I've used 9.3 thus far, and it's what I recommend for now.
**STEP 3**
From the same link as step 2, download the wrapper.exe. and install it into your main game folder.
**STEP 4**
From the same link as step 2, download the AC Installer 2.2. When you run it, a DOS prompt will come up. Choose the appropriate number for the sound mod version you have installed.
***STEP 5**
You will now have to re-upgrade to 4.09b1m with this
mod-friendly patch.
**STEP 6**
To be able to join our new missions with flyable B-17s and B-29s, you will need to install the
AAA Mod Pack and the B-17G mod directly below it.
**NOTE*
In some cases, the language on the main splash screen may appear in Russian. That's because the game is originally in Russian. The main menu will not change. If dynamic campaigns appear in Russian,
apply this fix.
OTHER MODS
Once you have the soundmod/base mod installer hooked up right, you can just add other mods to the new MODS folder in your IL-2 folder. Kenny and I have installed an
engine flame/tire screech/reduced dustmod, a
realistic cloud mod and some other shit I can't remember.
