Mods and Maps

Postby Kasdeya on Sat Nov 08, 2008 1:26 am

Install the unified installer...It has a ton of stuff in it already that will install over previous mods.
Unified Installer

B17 Gunners
New Props (I use the lite pack)
Pimp wheels for 109

Aircraft
FW190 A3
Spit Mk. 1 (Will not need with unified installer)

Maps
Canon's Channel Map
Tobruk
Alpen
Pacific Atolls
Darwin
Normandy 1944
Kwajalein
Default Maps in new Textures

If you have any issues loading a map in the FMB, search through the thread. There should be either a fix or suggestions to help you through it. I have an issue with Canon's map but not worrying bout it because he is releasing it soon. The Unified installer has plenty of the maps in there already, my FMB map list is two and a quarter columns long with just these maps and the UI installed.

To turn on and off Mods, go to the Mods folder in IL2 and either remove or place a - infront of the file. The prop mod in the UI must be off (with -) to allow the Lite prop mod to work.

This should keep you busy for a little while I would think.

I fixed the issue of falling to your death from a belly landed HE 111. Maybe. I was using a different map height on that map. I reverted back to the original so it should be cool now. I would highly recommend to atleast get the default map textures, they add alot into the map itself.

In your main IL2 folder, under the i18n folder, there is a file called netmessages. You can change what is said on the chat bar when certain things happen. Make a back up copy of that and then paste this in its place. I have changed a few of those messages in this file. If you open it in notepad you should be able to do the same. Just make sure to only change words in the sentence and not the {0} or {1}.

Couple more Aircraft for to play with:

Make sure you download the a/c installer 2.9 for these to install correctly. The install is on the same page as the Aircraft.

The FW190's fuken rule, period. The 109's have enough fire power to take down a P47 with a sloppy one second trigger pull.

Bitchin...

Get them, now.

I'm not a big fan of the 190's. I'm a turn-n-burn pilot as opposed to boom-n-zoom.

You will learn and turn to the dark side. I try to B&Z in everything I fly, keeps my energy up if the enemy turns the table on me so I can run. With the T&B planes, I can keep the energy longer while staying on the enemies tail, but I still climb up and bounce him again.

Bounced a P47 last night with the 190, the jug dove and ran away from me easily. He made a mistake in not putting enough distance between us before climbing back up to try to shoot me. He sat close to stall at the top of his climb and I lit his arse up. Never shot that many pieces off a Jug before.

Well, one of the problems with the maps we design is that we insist on taking off, but our missions are designed to be short fly-ins. Thus, you don't have a lot of time to get to proper B&Z altitude.

Try the Berlin mission, Within three mins I was at 5 to 6000 meters to intercept the bombers at the same height.

When we flew that mission with you in Pure's stinky He111, I was B&Z'ing you in my Spitfire, you still wrecked me but...

I'm just saying that its easier not to stall when you B&Z specially at low alts. It helps keep you speed and energy up in case you get chased by an enemy and you can escape easier. Its also easier to keep the enemy in veiw constantly when your in cockpit. One day you will want to fly in cockpit, it makes the sim more difficult (sort of) and more immersive.
