New Anno

Postby Koz on Wed Aug 05, 2009 12:13 pm

So Anno 1404 (age of discovery its also called) came out a few months back. I finally got around to installing it on pandy's computer and another buddy's. It is pretty cool, more polished than the last one if that is possible.

Anyone else check it out?

It is the first game my computer fully misses the minimum specs that i want to play...so prolly going to need an upgrade here soon.

And it does. I've only managed a couple hours into a game so far. Still on citizens too, figuring out how to make them happy enough to turn into patricians. :yay:

I'd be all over this if it didn't involve a new computer.

I haven't played the game for about a week now, its only on the computers of a couple of friends.

although when i was playing, i couldn't figure out the screenshot button. though i really didn't give it any thought besides printscreen and pasting. when that didn't work, I gave up. I'll try this weekend. if i get a chance to play it again.

Im playing my first game of this right now.
Looks and feels the same, which is cool.
At the mo im getting some baron spit missions at me, 'deliver 10t of Cider to bollocksville' etc, so im just following that.

Screenies to follow.

Oh, totally torrented it btw, so I can link to the free version if like.

Im totally hooked. Did that thing where you havea little look at it for an hour.....it reminds you to take a break at 2 hours.....I had two of those warnings in that same sitting.
It is digital crack.

If youve played the earlier versions it looks and feels the same, which is awesome. i guess its been improved graphically etc but it got tthe same feel.
Playing through the campaign at the mo, each section (2 hours play?) advances you on in what you have to do. So now im not only setting up trade routes between my 3 islands, ive also gotta have warships on hand to defend these routes, whereas the earlier stages are just about providing beer or something.

I love the intricate management side, complicated build trees whose products need to be exported for manufacture. Im only on the easy levels which allows for room to manuver when getting the balance right, on the harder levels ill need to be way more efficient.

If youve played it, its more of the same.
If you havent and you like RTS with management, then its a must.
Not many games as innovative and high quality as this.
