So is there a good Windows 7 setup out there on the torrent networks yet?

Several listed on The Pirate Bay, but I trust them about as much as I trust Glenn Beck's sanity. Waiting on my aunt to come through with the educational version that doesn't require activation before I try and pirate. As for now, I still use the Beta version (7100). It's still out in the wild, even if MS doesn't offer it for download anymore. You can still get CD keys for it too.

Torrentleach has several versions and that place is safe as houses. So yeah, there's plenty of good versions out there.

I'm giving serious consideration to *gasp* buying this OS though. I don't mind paying for a product if it's good and the folks selling it have made a genuine effort to listen to their customers.

It's why I stole Vista and intend to buy 7.

I'm of the same mentality as Span. I don't mind paying for quality software. I even plan to dump $600.00 on a legal copy of Photoshop CS4, even though I have a completely functioning version already on my machine, which is what I swore I would do if I ever started earning money with it.
At all times a small segment of the population will engage in reckless behavior regardless of how many laws are on the books.
