Sigh.

After cashing out 300 just to be safe, I joined another table with my original $100 deposit. Proceeded to quickly build it up again to over 300.

Then,
I got absolutely fucking burned by virtually the EXACT same scenario I had just benefited from moments before.

Man this sucked.... he played it perfectly too. The bastard. Pocket 4's ffs. Ghey.

Its tough to turn down an all in like that since you were pretty much committed, but you should have seen that beatdown coming a mile away. I know, bit of an arm chair QB here, forgive me. I just wouldnt have felt safe at all with 2 pair in that instance, no fucking way.

Better luck next time, man.

I know, I know. But this guy gave no hint he would be so aggressive with a low pocket pair. At first I was thinking he must have the same thing I did, MAYBE with a Q kicker if I was lucky, or perhaps a mid to high pair such as JJ. No way did I think he had 4's. It just unfolded fucking perfectly for him, bottom line. And hitting that A was the death blow for me. I was too deep into it to just give up. I was sure he was going to flip over AK as well for the split. Oh well.

Thats what he gambled on. He had the nuts boat, yet kept his calm and lured you into thinking you could possibly win the hand. He was probably scared of pocket aces. Its something I've picked up on online gambling...if the cards are all down and the opponent is betting hard at the end when he checked/called the whole round, he's got you beat. Might as well turn em up, cause two pair is rotten in that circumstance.

I still play at UB sometimes, so if ya see me drop by and play a few hands.

He would've beaten you with a crap hand like J5 offsuit, though I have to admit that he probably would've folded that hand after your Pre-Flop raise. Continuous calling must ring alarm bells. Either he has a pocket pair not hitting the flop, which gives you the advantage with your paired Ace on the turn, or he has you beat. Because there was a pair on the Flop (==> Full House!), or the third spade on the Turn (==> Flush!) or the Ace on the turn (==> Straight!). No matter what.... your two pairs weren't worth that big call anymore.

Phil Ivey would've folded after your opponent's all-in. I hope you still have your cashed out 300.... or have you already re-invested?

No I still have it. I agree I should have folded on the all-in, hindsight is such a luxury though. Heart was thumping at that point though and I really thought we had the same cards. That was my first foray back into "high stakes" games in quite a long time, almost 2 years I think. I did pretty well until that hand. I let my old bad habits creep back and it cost me. I'll probably wait a couple weeks then venture back for more.
