We're in one of the deepest solar minima on record. The sun is very quiet. But it does this on an 11-year cycle, and everyone is waiting for it to crank back up.

LEOnids.

The radiant is in Leo. However, staring at the radiant is a good way to not see shit. Meteors will appear all over the sky, they just all happen to point back to the radiant. That doesn't mean, however, that they will appear near the radiant.

How do I spot the Leo radiant then? Last shower i looked nearly straight up at the W shaped Cassiopeia.

Look overhead for Mars. It's the reddest thing you can possibly see, much redder than Aldebaran in nearby Taurus. Once you find Mars, look to the left for a sickle or question mark of stars. That's Leo.
