The Golf was sold under the name Rabbit in the U.S.A., so both answers are correct depending on where you make your purchase.

Somehow it just doesn't seem right calling a Golf R32 a "Rabbit". Too cutesy.

Still, we've grown up with Golfs. Might seem an odd name to the Yanks.

We don't call them Rabbits anymore. For the most part, Rabbits were diesel IIRC. Now we call them Golfs, which is an evern dumber name. A rabbit is small and fast. Golf is a game played by drunk Scotsmen and Republicans. Which would you rather name a car after?
