The state of Georgia went from having the worst drought in a century to being completely underwater. If there is a God, he obviously does get tired of prayers.

God actually answered their prayers in great measures.

I love pizza bagels.

Not the pre-made frozen kind, mind you. A large Lenders plain, toasted, some Ragu pizza sauce smothered on it, and a slice of whatever cheese I have in the fridge.

Good stuff.

I like to get a nice Ciabatta, slice in half and then smother in tomato sauce and mozzarella. Yum.

Toasted ciabatta also goes great with a nice aioli con aglio. Olive oil, garlic, some red pepper or chili flakes, and various herbs. Mmmmm.

Not exactly diet food, though.

Holy fuck, did I see Sam come unglued yesterday. The puck was behind his team's net, and a kid on the other team got checked, went down and stayed down. Instead of blowing the whistle, the ref allowed play to continue. Sam's team carried the puck down the ice and it got passed to Sam in the low slot. He flipped the puck over the goalie's shoulder, but before it could cross the goal line, the ref blew the whistle for the injury. No goal (and the game finished 1-1). Sam's coach had to keep him on the bench for his next 2 shifts to calm him down. I thought he was going to tackle the ref. I'm shocked that he didn't get an unsportsmanlike penalty for all the shouting he did.

That's justified imo. Fucking ref is a fucking shit stick.

I was quite famous for my temper when I was a youngster playing in tennis club games and tournaments. Lots of raquet abuse and shouting. Mini-McEnroe they used to call me (I had curly hair too).

I was very good with my temper playing baseball. I knew most of the umps and in the 20 years or so of playing ball I only lost it once. Called 3rd strike with a guy on third and 2 outs that was at my eyes and a good foot outside the zone. I fucking lost it. Ump, whose nickname was Bugsy, actually came up and apologized after the game.

Still remember the exchange:

Bugsy: "Strike 3!!!!!! YOU'RE OUT!!!!
Tgrant: "You gotta be kidding me"
Bugsy: "Strike 3, take a seat Mike"
Tgrant: "That was not a strike, it wasn't even remotely close to a strike, WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU LOOKING AT??!!"
Bugsy: "It caught the outside corner, take a seat and watch your language"
Tgrant: "It caught nothing, in fact the catcher had to dive to catch the damn thing, look at the damn pitcher Bugs, he's laughing all the way to the dugout. Not one person in this god damn place with their god damn eyes open thought that was a god damn strike."
Bugsy: "Back to the dugout or you're getting tossed"
Tgrant (getting pulled back to the dugout by the coach who is also yelling shit at Bugsy): "You should have tossed me before he threw that pitch cause the only chance I'd have at hitting it is if I was in the god damn stands!!"

No it's not. The kid has got to learn to keep his cool. Of course Dick might not be the best role model for that!

A ref would lose his Tim Horton's membership if he pulled that up here.

I'm trying to impress on him that chirping at the ref never has a positive outcome. I was definitely the type who glared at the umpire if I thought he missed a strike call. It never helped me get the next call.
