I think I'm gonna have to check it out. The idea is so fantastic that the game could blow us away if they manage to actually pull it off.

Definitely getting it. The Creature Creator is funny as hell, although a bit lacking, as intended.

I still think y'all are fucking with me on this. It's going to be cute, like The Sims, you know? I first looked at it because Maxis isn't doing SimCity stuff anymore, and afaik only 25th and I ever liked Sim City.

I played the crap out of Sim City 2000 on my old, old machine. Not bothered with any incarnations since.

As for Spore.. meh. Doesn't look that good to me. More interested in STALKER: Clear Sky.

The shooter genre is dead for all intents and purposes.

STALKER wasn't post-apocalypse. Though the setting was similar.

Yeah, not technically post apocalypse, but wandering around a nookyoolar wasteland is pretty much the same thing. Scary radiation monsters and such.

Spore is at least something different. I'm finding myself more and more bored with my PC these days. Maybe it's time to give up gaming and chase tail.

It was immersive and free roaming. Pretty much what I like in my FPS's nowadays.

I know what you mean though. Games just aren't as good nowadays.

When the graphics in games weren't as good, I felt we got more complete games. Now we get eye candy and we're supposed to be satisfied by dynamic lighting and bloom rather than an immersive and original game. That's what attracts me to Spore. It is original.

Yeah that's a big part of it. I never played STALKER and thought "Ooh I wish those water effects were more realistic". More "I wish the the otherwise smart AI wouldn't do that horrendously moronic and suicidal thing".

Same with RTS's. Playing TA I never wanted fancier graphics. I wanted better AI, bigger maps, more units etc etc.

All the games out there now are shiat. What used to be the best genre imo, the FPS's, just seem crappy. They peaked with the WW2 theme and jumped the shark with Doom3.

You can have a free trial of TF2 if you want. I should be on as soon as I get my monitor back.

Dick plays whatever I'm playing. Dick has various hangers-on himself. Should be able to get a few of us playing.

That goes for anyone. All the folk who own TF2 will have a trial pass they can give away if anyone wants to try it.
