The reviewers disagree with you.
You probably got some French knockoffs. In fact, I seem to remember reading that they released a slightly different version for the Womens/French market. They were pink instead of black and were covered in glitter. They were also only stereo instead of 5.1.
That would explain it.
Can't say I blame them. The Womens/French market is highly lucrative nowadays.

Well, whatever their intended target market, I sold them to an American teenage boy and got a pair of excellent Audio Technica headphones.

Don't get the Barracuda's unless you get the sound card too Span. If you use a regular sound card then they use USB for their power and it gives back an annoying feedback. Anytime your hard drive is spinning or CPU is churning you'll hear static. After a few days of it I just picked up the sound card that goes with em as it has a different interface to plug them into. Looks like a DVI plug to be honest. Absolutely no feedback though. Not a peep. The surround is frigging insane in games too. mint. Way better than my Audigy 2 ZS.
If you don't want to get both the sound card and the headphones than get one of the headsets I posted links to or another that uses a wall plug to get the power. Stay away from any headset with a USB, whether it be solely for power or otherwise.

Roger. Will do.
My credit card has been paid off for a while now and I'm not sure it's legal to have nothing on your card for that long. Best stick summat on it.

I was playing some BF2 last night with the new setup and damn it was mint. Very crisp and could easily pinpoint where the shots were coming from, hear and guess where vehicles were etc. What a difference. Could get a much better feel for how far away the sounds were coming from. I have to say I was surprised that razor could make a sound card that competes with Creative. Very pleased so far.

I don't fancy forking out for the Barracudas and a razor sound card. Think I'm gonna go for the basic X-Fi card and the Medusas - Home edition - The ones that come with a seperate mains powered amp.

Those are the most involved headphones I've ever seen.

Well, the ones I had were pretty straightforward. Assuming you got a proper soundcard, you match the colors of the plugs on the soundcard with those of the cans, plug in the USB power and you're good to go...

These have a seperate powersupply though cos a lot of reviewers said that USB powered ones tended to hiss.

I didn't know, I had the USB powered ones and no hiss. I was less than impressed with the surround shit though...

I had the USB powered Medusas and they were the best ive ever had in every way (nice and snug on the head, bendy good quality mic, bass that made my ears itch, etc, they were ace!). I think they wore out in that the front right speaker stopped working, prolly the wire got too much twisting and yanking over time.
No hiss, they were fine.
These ones are the same headset, but with a nifty box that allows you to flip between speakers and headphones and also hook up your DVD etc, handy volume button etc. Also its houses the power bit.
Not got them done out proper yet, need to fuck with the software and stuff. Music sounded average, but BBC streaming video (Wimbledon) sounded ace. Needs a tweak, ill get around to it when i have a game going on.
So i expect the same but with more power and easier to flip inputs and outputs, no more scrabbling around under the desk with the soundcard.
Will let you guys know.
